Jataka Tales Collection
Ancient Buddhist stories of wisdom and morality
The Jataka Tales are a voluminous body of literature native to India, concerning the previous births of the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, in both human and animal form. More than just simple fables, these stories are powerful moral allegories that illustrate the virtues (or pΔramitΔ) that the Bodhisatta (the future Buddha) had to master on his long path to enlightenment.
